Community Affairs Committee
This committee acts as liaison between the Atlanta NABA Chapter and various community-based groups throughout metro Atlanta. We coordinate and participate yearly in volunteering for both the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) and the Empty Stocking Fund, and other community volunteer efforts to provide members with an opportunity to give back to the community. Two of our primary volunteer events are described below.
- Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA): The VITA Program offers free tax help to low to moderate-income (generally, $40,000 and below) people who cannot prepare their own tax returns. NABA volunteers become certified and receive training to help prepare basic tax returns. Certification training will begin late fall 2010 and early 2011. Dates will be provided to via email blasts to all NABA members.
- Empty Stocking Fund: The Empty Stocking Fund is a volunteer based non-profit organization whose mission is to bring joy to metro Atlanta's neediest boys and girls during the holiday season by providing toys, educational items, clothing and stocking stuffers to these children. Volunteers assist with counting donated coins.

Financial Literacy Committee
The Financial Literacy Committee serves the Atlanta Professional chapter of NABA by providing community outreach projects focused on financial literacy. NABA sponsors two financial literacy programs to serve the greater Atlanta community. The first program is a financial literacy workshop series titled Money Sense, which is designed to educate and empower high school youth, college students, and low to moderate income adults to learn money management skills and increase their awareness of financial options and strategies. Our second program is an outstanding partnership with Operation Hope, a not-for-profit organization, to deliver a financial education program to a local Atlanta school. Focusing on urban, under-served communities, Operation Hope uses its established Banking on Our Future program to execute a global delivery system for financial education for youth ages 9-18 at no cost to school districts. For further information about this committee, contact the Financial Literacy Committee Chair at financialliteracy@nabaatl.org.
